MIGUEL PADURA is one of the most interesting and innovative younger realist now working in the United States. Unlike many representational painters active in this country whose points of reference are often specifically North American, the look and feel of the frequently enigmatic compositions of Padura encompass allusions to several traditions. He is an artist who is aware of and assimilates the past in a unique way. In some instances he makes the viewer immediately aware of his sources and his points of inspiration.
